Video Format and Export Troubleshooting

What formats work, size guidance, and how to fix export problems.

Use MP4 with H.264 and AAC for the most reliable experience. Keep files around or below 200 MB where practical and keep the tab in the foreground during export.

Step by step

  1. 01

Use MP4 with H.264 and AAC

This input combination has broad browser support and is reliable for loading and clipping before a browser-generated export.

  2. 02

    Check your file size

Around 200 MB is a practical guideline. Larger files may work but can cause performance issues on some devices.

  3. 03

    Try Chrome or Edge

If your video does not load or play correctly, try opening the site in Chrome or Edge. Browser codec support varies.

  4. 04

Keep the tab in the foreground

Export uses in-browser media processing. If you switch to another tab or minimize the browser, the process can be suspended and fail.

  5. 05

Close other tabs if export fails

Low memory can cause export to fail. Close tabs and applications you are not using, then try the export again.

WebM and other formats

WebM files can work in some browsers but support is less consistent than MP4. If a WebM file does not load, try converting it to MP4.

Formats such as AVI or MKV are generally not supported directly in browsers. Convert them to MP4 before loading.

Export duration

Export processing typically takes roughly as long as the clip itself. A 10-second clip may take about 10 seconds to export.

If export seems stuck, wait for at least twice the clip duration before assuming it has failed.

When export fails

Common causes include backgrounding the tab, low device memory, and unsupported codecs.

If repeated attempts fail, try a shorter clip, a smaller source file, or a different browser.
